Being different, set apart, and peculiar based on biblical verse.
The author reflects on the meaning of the Bible verse Exodus 19:5 and its relevance to her life.

Exodus 19:5
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine

Why did you name your trilogy His Purple Peculiar Treasure?
Author:
Well obviously my favorite color is purple! Lol but also because the verse Exodus 19:5 really resonated with me in relation to my personal journey with God.
Host:
Can you expand on that a bit more?
Author:
Let me explain the verse from a secular perspective:
If a teacher were to say to their students, if you continue to show up to my class on time, you continue to do the work that I asked you to do and participate in my class, you will be a star student. You will get great grades in my class, go on to a great college and have a wonderful life. But just know and understand that you will also be very different. You will be set apart and set aside from the rest of the class because no one else in this class hardly ever listens to me at all…even though it's my class.
So take a moment to think about that for a second…and not so much about the student but at how humbling the teacher has to be. Right?

True...please, go on.
Author:
Now let’s shift it to a spiritual perspective…and really understand that we serve a God that is humble enough to say; that these are the things that I ask of you. If you do them, you will be greatly rewarded in abundance. But know that you will be peculiar, you will be set aside and set apart from the rest of the world because although this is my world and I have created it and everything in it, there will be very few that will listen to me.

How beautifully sad is that?

I have not wholeheartedly followed His Word throughout my lifetime and my books painfully describe the repercussions I have faced over and over again because of that fateful decision.
But I will admit, I have grown wiser and I’m willing to follow his Word wholeheartedly now. I know that I owe Him my whole life. He has brought me through so many things and a lot of times, I mean, I could’ve, would’ve and should’ve been dead if it wasn't for Him.

So that is why I chose that Bible verse. And that is why I chose the name of my books.
